Ceremony & Reception: The White Room, St. Augustine

She snuck around the corner of the alley, holding her dress up off the cobblestone street, grinning from ear to ear. He faced me, his back to his Bride. Smiling. Bouncing slightly from foot to foot, anxiously waiting their first look. They were giddy. That’s the best way to describe it. When they turned around to see each other the laughing and smiling reached an all time high. They couldn’t believe they were there, in that moment. A moment they had longed for and planned for for months. They were instantly at ease. The stress and nervousness of the day quickly evaporating as they held each other. I have photographed many “First looks” but this one takes the cake. I really don’t advocate one way or another for first looks. I believe that is a couples choice, as to whether they want to see each other or wait for the walk down the aisle. I will say though, that a first look makes so much sense. You are, after all, marrying the person you want to spend every moment of your life with. It so hard sometimes on my Brides, when their Grooms are their rocks, to go all day, on the most important day of their lives, without having a hug or a kiss from the person who means the most to them. When couples see each other they instantly feel whole. Right with the world. At ease on a day that can sometimes be very overwhelming. It makes perfect sense.
Erin and Justin wrapped their arms around each other as the fog around St. Augustine rolled in thick. We could barely see 20 feet in front of us, and the view they had expected their guests to see from the rooftop of the White Room was hidden by a thick white coat of fog, but their day was still theirs. They walked down the aisle, and met under their Huppah. In love, and ready to start their new lives together. Erin and Justin, I cannot tell you the honor it was to photograph your Wedding day. XOXO!
