Kristin and Caleb – Married! Jacksonville Wedding Photographer

Engagement· Weddings

21 Oct

Ceremony: St. Johns Presbyterian

Reception: Florida Yacht Club

Band: KTG

Planner : Diann Catlin

Sweet neglected blog. Screaming out at me, trying to get my attention like a small child. “Hey, Jenn!!! Remember me!! Your favorite
blog!! The blog you thought was gone only a few months ago!! Sitting here empty, abandoned, no new blog posts??!!! Is that the kind of love you show to a miraculously resurrected blog! “That’s what I’ve been hearing every time I scroll past the folder on my hard drive called “To Blog”. I have tons of weddings and sessions sitting there, waiting to be narrowed down, watermarked and blogged. I have been so incredibly blessed the past few months. Busy. My calendar is chalk full of amazing clients, so full that I’ve been spending all my time editing and shooting, and not blogging!! Stay with me sweet blog readers, as soon as October Wedding season and Holiday Christmas Card season pass I will be filling up this lonely little blog with all sorts of sessions.

In the meantime, please check out Kristin and Caleb’s wedding!! Their wedding was way back in June! That’s how behind I am! It breaks my heart too because I cannot even describe how much I love these two. I got an email a long while back from one of my favorite wedding planners saying, “I  have a Bride for you, I’ve given her a few options, but you two will be perfect for each other, I hope she chooses you”. I cannot even tell you how glad I am that Kristin chose me to photograph her wedding. We chatted on the phone for a bit, since she and her Fiancé
Caleb were finishing up their last year in Annapolis at the Naval Academy. We chatted about her wedding day, about their incredible love story, and about her love for art and photography. I hung up the phone knowing she was someone who would always be in my life. This fact became even clearer then when after complaining on facebook about my poor aching feet she sent me these amazing little shoe inserts that keep my feet feeling amazing during weddings!!! That’s who Kristin and Caleb are though. Sweet, Southern, Caring, GIANT hearts and so much love to give. Kristin and Caleb, I cannot wait to watch your love grow. You two are amazing together, and I am a better person to have you both in my life! Don’t forget me when you’re at sea! ;-)

Guilty as charged! I was actually on the phone with Kristin when I was checking your blog, as I have done regularly since you first took their engagement pictures so many months ago. Your work is beautiful and you are the friendliest photographer I’ve encountered!

If you have followed me for a minute I am sure you If you have followed me for a minute I am sure you would recognize this woman. When I photographed her Wedding years ago I had no idea how happy I would be to have @mrsmakeitrainka in my life!!!! She is an incredible Woman and Mom and a million other things. She has been such a wonderful friend to me and I am crazy thankful to know her. At our last content shoot (precovid and still with a chill in the air) we had a little fun with some video and I threw together a little something for her with some images I have taken over the years. My edit skills are lacking but it was so fun to create and show another side of her! Shout out to another client and dear friend @shopacutabove @brittneypatty for letting us use your perfect #jaxmural
I had so many caption for this photo of my beautif I had so many caption for this photo of my beautiful couple who married the day before our State sheltered in place. So, lets keep it real. I am one month out from my first post Covid “big” Wedding. I have photographed a few elopements since the world fell apart (in more ways then one..) I am anxious to get back to beautiful gowns, love, laughter, family. With all that has happened in this world in the last few months I realize these events will never be the same, but I see them as reasons to believe in the future, to believe in faith, hope and love.
.
I have been sheltering in place. I have been hiding from social media. It just became to much. If you know me you know I wear my heart in my sleeve, nothing is ever “just business” it is always personal. I hold peoples worries and fears on my own shoulders right along with mine. My heart was breaking, the industry was falling apart and we started fighting a war that should’ve been over 100’s of years ago. At first I was afraid of not working for months, then I became fearful and afraid for loved ones who were diagnosed with Covid, then I became worried because my beautiful boys mental health will forever be affected by this and I had to choose being a Mother over my business for a short time, then I fell apart when I saw what the world was doing to beautiful humans who deserve every opportunity in life no matter their skin color. I was afraid. Heartbroken. I placed my son in front of every report of protests to reinstate everything I have taught him his whole life. We talked about Americas ugly history. We talked about kindness, empathy, loving people for who they are. He just kept saying “Why?”. I finally said what do you mean “Why”???? He had tears in his eyes and said why would people hurt someone because of their skin color”. Exactly. Why? I will never have the right words. I just know that it is my BIGGEST job to teach this child. Black lives matter, even if he doesn’t see color, and I pray he will always keep his kindness and compassion and continue on to fight for peoples rights.
