Bethany and Charles – Married! Downtown Jacksonville Wedding Photographer

Engagement· Weddings

1 Jul

Ceremony: Hendricks Ave. Baptist Church

Reception: Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverside

Makeup: Makeup by Lilia B

I met Bethany years ago, on a super hot summer day, when she came through recruitment at my Sorority. I remember instantly one thing about her. She had this amazing, calm, peaceful spirit. It just sort of washed over you. She was beautiful, her smile lit up the room. This was exactly the same thing I felt when I watched Bethany walk down the aisle towards the love of her life. I also know everyone else in that sanctuary, including her Groom, Charles, felt the same way as well. I never thought Bethanys light could be any brighter, until I saw her with Charles. They are amazing. They bring out the best in each other, and they both shine because of it. Theres a giddy love, like school children mixed with an incredibly mature and deep bond. Bethany and Charles, thank you so much for allowing me to capture your day. It was beautiful, and a total party. Just like the two of you :-)

Bethany and Charles opted to see each other before hand, allowing a TON of time for photos. The Monsoon that rolled through Jax though changed our plans slightly. But we had a blast indoors anyways.

We decided to have a little fun on the escalators…

I mean, the happiness just pours out of them.

The sun decided to show up after the ceremony (Actually, it came out the minute Bethany walked down the aisle)! So we made the most of it.

Since Charles and Bethany were staying at the hotel that night, there exit was a little different. And Amazingly cute.

Bethany had the kindest things to say over on Wedding Wire. Thank you Bethany, for your sweet words. And allowing me to be a part of your day!

“My husband and I REALLY enjoyed having Jenn as our photographer. She was responsive, easy to work and plan with, extremely talented, and a pleasure to have as part of our special day. She had no problems working with us as we were planning the wedding from overseas. She was also flexible with any special requests and able to work with us on the price. Jenn exceeded all of our expectations for a photographer. She stayed with us all day long until the very last goodbye– she really spoiled us! Additionally, she saved us by showing us how to cut the cake and how to toss the garter/bouquet! I am absolutely recommending Jenn to all of my future bride friends. She is the best! “

If you have followed me for a minute I am sure you If you have followed me for a minute I am sure you would recognize this woman. When I photographed her Wedding years ago I had no idea how happy I would be to have @mrsmakeitrainka in my life!!!! She is an incredible Woman and Mom and a million other things. She has been such a wonderful friend to me and I am crazy thankful to know her. At our last content shoot (precovid and still with a chill in the air) we had a little fun with some video and I threw together a little something for her with some images I have taken over the years. My edit skills are lacking but it was so fun to create and show another side of her! Shout out to another client and dear friend @shopacutabove @brittneypatty for letting us use your perfect #jaxmural
I had so many caption for this photo of my beautif I had so many caption for this photo of my beautiful couple who married the day before our State sheltered in place. So, lets keep it real. I am one month out from my first post Covid “big” Wedding. I have photographed a few elopements since the world fell apart (in more ways then one..) I am anxious to get back to beautiful gowns, love, laughter, family. With all that has happened in this world in the last few months I realize these events will never be the same, but I see them as reasons to believe in the future, to believe in faith, hope and love.
.
I have been sheltering in place. I have been hiding from social media. It just became to much. If you know me you know I wear my heart in my sleeve, nothing is ever “just business” it is always personal. I hold peoples worries and fears on my own shoulders right along with mine. My heart was breaking, the industry was falling apart and we started fighting a war that should’ve been over 100’s of years ago. At first I was afraid of not working for months, then I became fearful and afraid for loved ones who were diagnosed with Covid, then I became worried because my beautiful boys mental health will forever be affected by this and I had to choose being a Mother over my business for a short time, then I fell apart when I saw what the world was doing to beautiful humans who deserve every opportunity in life no matter their skin color. I was afraid. Heartbroken. I placed my son in front of every report of protests to reinstate everything I have taught him his whole life. We talked about Americas ugly history. We talked about kindness, empathy, loving people for who they are. He just kept saying “Why?”. I finally said what do you mean “Why”???? He had tears in his eyes and said why would people hurt someone because of their skin color”. Exactly. Why? I will never have the right words. I just know that it is my BIGGEST job to teach this child. Black lives matter, even if he doesn’t see color, and I pray he will always keep his kindness and compassion and continue on to fight for peoples rights.
