They were standing in Gracie’s nursery. Arms around each other and the new precious life they had created. Snuggling on her and loving her so much. I was shooting away trying to make sure I captured this beautiful, serene, precious moment when BAM! The bathroom door slammed shut. Chris smiled down at Gracie and said to Katie, he did it again. Katie laughed and said “Oh Bean”. (Little Michael’s nickname from the moment they first saw him on the ultrasound, thats stuck with him ever sense). I asked was everything okay, and did they need a moment and they replied, No. Bean just locked himself in the bathroom…again. It was such a classic parent of two moment. Chris handed Gracie over to her Mama and walked across the hall slowly and calmly. Knocked on the bathroom door and said, “Bean…come on man. (in the calmest most polite voice I have ever heard when speaking to an almost two year old), Remember. We talked about this before”? That moment was SO them. So Katie and Chris. Had Bean been about 10 I think his response would’ve been. “I’m so sorry Daddy. Your right. We did chat about me locking myself in the bathroom last night didn’t we. I sure do apologize”. Because thats how Katie and Chris roll. Sweet, Calm, kind with a splash of humor. They are raising their children in an amazing way. Mature and strong and thoughtful and sweet. With a splash of sass rolled up with a lots of warmth and love. I just ADORE this family. I seriously cannot get enough of them. They work so well together as a team. Laughing and loving together along the way. Katie, Chris, Bean, and Gracie girl, I am so glad you all are who you are and love the way you love. Thank you for letting me capture it all. I hope to see you all soon!
