Oh my sweet Maddie. I have been photographing this child for the past 2 years or so and I swear I will photograph her until she’s 50. Maddie was one of the very first children I ever photographed, and I learned so much from her. I learned to let children have fun first, and be photographed second. I learned that to make them smile you must make them laugh. I learned that in order to truely capture a child you must get them to let you in, which isnt ever very hard since children want nothing more but to let you in. This particular session came about because Maddie was a flower girl in her Uncle’s wedding and when her Mommy saw her in her dress she knew she had to capture how precious she looked in it. I photograph both children and weddings, and I promise you nothing makes a little girl smile bigger then when she’s in a “princess dress” like most flower girl dresses are. So, when searching for a location I knew I had to take Maddie to one of my favorite parks. On the drive there we discussed that this was a magical park and she decided it MUST be Cinderella’s park!!!! This sweet girl ran from location to location, her imagination running wild. She had everyone there pegged as a character, from ugly stepsisters, to Prince Charming (I asked if I could please be Gus, my favorite of Cinderella’s mice as to avoid being a stepsister ;-) ) and Maddie of course was the star herself Cinderella. I was corrected by the princess multiple times when I would call her name “Hey Maddie, look here, or hey Maddie look at this” she would reply “I”M CINDERELLA”. ;-) Miss Maddie, I hope your imagination always runs as wild as it did on this day. Love you sweet girl! Thank you for always being my inspiration and my muse.
Sometimes you just have to twirl…
