It was 11 years ago. I was walking towards the lunch table at my Sorority House with my plate in my hands and heard a giggle. A laugh that I hadn’t heard there before. I looked up to see the sweetest looking girl sitting amongst my sorority sisters. Her name was Lindsay she said. She was there eating lunch with some of my sorority sisters. I sat down with them and within minutes felt like I had known Lindsay my entire life. By the time we’d finished lunch, and were scrambling to grab our bags to make it to class on time I felt like Lindsay was an old friend, and she’d even given me her Moms email address and phone number, who was a super fab event planner at Disney, and at the time, I was hoping to follow in her footsteps. I remember thinking, how kind. 1 year later, Lindsay joined our sorority. Many of our lives would never be the same. She introduced my Best Friend to her now husband, she introduced me to her Mother, who gave me amazing and invaluable advice. She became a friend, a fantastic person to get advice from, a super fun friend to go out with, and an even better Sex in the City watching partner. I remember being blown away by Lindsays courage and confidence. I remember when she swore our Junior year she was going to be a real life Carrie Bradshaw. She wanted to go to NYC to write. I remember after graduation when she sold her car, and took everything she got from it with her to New York. I remember when she landed awesome, after awesome job in the magazine publishing world. I used to LOVE to look for her byline in US Weekly and Entertainment Weekly. I also remember when she met a boy. I remember when she announced to us all, that after years of living, struggling, loving, and thriving in NYC she was leaving. To move with Dryw to North Carolina. I don’t think any of us questioned her commitment at that point. We knew she was done searching. She’d found the person she was going to be with, forever. I also remember when she posted a photo of her boarding a plane to Italy, and thinking the minute I saw it “Shes going to be engaged when she comes home”. I also remember crying a bit when she told me their engagement story, and when she said that minutes after the proposal, while still crying she told Dryw “We have to book Jenn”. My sweet friend, I am so incredibly honored to photograph your wedding, or that you would even think of me in such a moment. I am so looking forward to your North Carolina wedding in June. I can’t wait to see you walk down the aisle (or the party that is sure to occur after those I do’s)
